I Have Three Friends

If you know me well, you know I have 3 things I can't live without. You think I'm going to say Jeremy, Sayla and Anders, and wouldn't that be a sweet post dedicated to how much I love each of them. I'll save that one for a different day. The three things that help me keep it together is diet coke, Oprah and on a bad day, Target. I think Jeremy knows by now that I need some alone time if at 8 p.m. I run off to Target and come home two hours later with a diet coke and a Oprah magazine in hand. Now honestly, I could write a separate post on each topic. On how I get a little anxiety when Jeremy leaves the house in the morning and I realize I have no diet coke or access to diet coke. Or how during my lowest saddest times in my past, when I just needed to get out, I'd wander around Target. Or how I feel that watching Oprah through High School, College, and my 20's has taught me a lot about being a woman, a feminist and a mother. So I won't do that, but I think you all get the idea. "My time" around here is at 4:00, I grab a diet coke and whatever child supplies I need and devote 3/4 of my attention to the t.v.
Monday, for example, I managed to feed a baby, play a game of Cootie all while tuning in to Ms. O.

The topic was motherhood. To summarize, it was about how as mothers we think we are all alone in this. No one else is messing this up the way I am. My house is a mess, my kids are a mess, and I haven't showered in three days. Whether you stay at home or you work, the job is hard, (yes I know we all love our kids, would never take them back, and it's the best thing we've ever done) lonely and maybe not what you expected. Before I had kids, I imagined myself with a sweet little baby pushing a stroller around the mall while I purchased my new jeans and all the shoppers couldn't get over my cute little bundle. I don't think I've tried clothes on in a store for almost 4 years and the only thing I shop for with my kids is, diapers, formula or groceries.

So what's my point? My point is, thank you again Oprah! Yesterday, I didn't do too bad. I managed to do some laundry, the dishes, make supper, play with play-dough, have BOTH kids nap, and play a game of Cootie. I guess I'd call that a success!

Well said Summer Leigh.

We share a best friend. I get my daily dose of Vitamin D.C. Yes, it runs in my veins.
And, you are doing a remarkable job with those two little gifts.

What You Will Find Here

This is a blog about me and my life. I write about the everything, and the nothing that consumes a stay-at-home mom of two. My monster is my one year old little boy, and his sister is my four year old daughter. You should know that I am not a writer, I'm not a speller, but I think I'm funny. I really get a kick out of myself sometimes. The truth is....I'm funnier in my head. So often, this blog is a bad attempt at humor and sarcasm, but mostly it's about the mundane, wonderful, boring, exciting, crabby, happy days we have together.
